The Panihati Trananath High School was established by devoutly pious, liberal, magnanimous and worthy child of Panihati Trananath Bandhyopadhyay in the year 1896. Though the school was established in the year 1896 but in the year 1900 the lovely and high-raised school building (One-Storeyed and Approx. 20 ft high) which was built according to the planning and outlook of Sennet House of Calcutta University. To make the windows and doors of the school ‘Teak Wood’ came from far away of Brahmadesh (Rengun) at that time. Moreover, to build this school, 100 years ago from the present time the renowned Trananath Banerjee had made expenditure of about Rs. 14,000/-. At the river bank of Ganges, surrounded by a spectacular environment alongwith the divine prospect of this place this lovely School regarded as an ideal one, concerning the quality of education it served to its students in the vicinity. The school was recognized by Calcutta University in 1906. Lord Litton, the Governor had made remarks in the visitor book “one of the finest school building in Bengal”. On the river bank of the ganges. the school is suurounded by famous “ Mahotsabtala Ghat” which is blessed with the footsteps of Great souls like Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Nityananda Prabhu, Sri Ramkrishna Paramahansa, Swami Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi. Gobinda Home which is also near to the School is famous where Rabindra Nath Tagore had spent some of his memorable times in his early child hood as found in Jibansmriti. Reference of the school is found in the Bengal District Gazetteers 24 Parganas by L. S.S.O.’ MALLEY, 1914. (Page-263). The List of High-Schools and the number of peoples on the rolls on 31st March, 1913 shows Panihati (Trannath) 195 pupils, Sodepur 126 pupils, Kamarhati (Sagar Dutta Free) 184 pupils.
