Late Khan Bahadur Md. Jan an M.L.C. and ardent congressman, a philanthropist, having love, feelings and a compassionate heart for backward Muslim Community founded Md. Jan High School in 1933. Before founding the school he sought the advice of his some trusted friends and educationists such as Abdul Rahim of Haji Mohsin Square, K.B. Md. Asadullah, the librarian of the imperial library. A new building which belonged to Omar Hyat Khan at Ram Lochan Street (Phal Mandi Machua) was taken on rent where he started the school named Calcutta Muslim High School from class I to IX in 1933. The school was accorded affiliation after a year and began working as a full fledged Institution upto class X. But the growing no of students and expending academic activities made the space insufficient and K.B. Sk Md. Jan Saheb purchased a piece of land at 9B Bolai Dutta Street where a five storied building came into existence well built infrastructure and well ventilated with special class rooms The school never faced financial difficulty of any sort. The founder President not only met the deficit of the school from his personal fund but also gave free studentship and prizes to meritorious and deserving students. The aims and objectives of the institution are not only to promote education by encouraging academic excellence but also to provide ample opportunities to nurture all-around development of the pupils and to stimulate and develop creative thoughts in them, in the process their personalities develop and ultimately, they become worthy citizens, caring for others and have a sense of duty and responsibility to the society.
