Welcome to Kendriya Vidyalaya Fort William, one of the prestigious and leading institutions of West Bengal, India. It was established in 1965 and imparts education from class I to XII. The school is having 4 sections from class I to X. The Senior Secondary section of Vidyalaya is also having 4 sections - two sections of Science, one section of Commerce and one of Humanities. Nestled within the lush green Army Campus of Fort William, it is a beautiful three-storeyed building comprising of a library, big classrooms, well-equipped Physics, Chemistry, Biology as well as Junior Science Laboratories, convention hall, and three computer labs equipped with all modern kits. In addition, it also has a newly established digital language lab. The Vidyalaya has one Basketball and one Volleyball court each. The campus also comprises of a Football cum Cricket field. In addition, there is a nice children’s park exclusively for the children of primary classes. It has strength of nearly 2000 students and 80 staff members on roll who are achieving academic excellence and moulding the personalities of the students in order to transform them into worthy citizens of the nation.

    "I am writing this review as the elder sister of a student at this school, hoping to bring to light the horrifying experience we had. My brother, a student at this school, broke his arm completely (not a fracture, but a full break in two pieces) in the classroom after being pushed by a classmate. The way the school handled this situation is beyond unacceptable. We received a phone call from the school at around 10AM on 19th December, 2022 informing us about his injury and asking us to come and pick him up to take him to the doctor. Since we live far from the school, it was impossible to reach there before an hour. I requested the teacher on the call to take my brother to the nearest hospital immediately, assuring them that we would meet them there. However, they flat-out refused, citing reasons such as the principal being “busy” and the teacher not having a car or the ability to leave the school premises. When we finally arrived an hour later, we found my brother sitting in the school office, in immense pain, with a visibly broken arm. Instead of allowing us to rush him to the hospital immediately, the teacher insisted that we write a letter to the principal first. After writing the letter, we were not even allowed to hand it over to the principal directly; the teacher claimed they would give it to the principal later because he was “too busy.” When we asked for details about how the incident happened, none of the teachers gave us a straight answer. Their response was vague and dismissive, as though they were trying to avoid accountability. After my brother underwent a major operation to fix his arm, I returned to the school to meet the teacher involved and the student responsible for pushing him. To my shock, I learned that the principal was completely unaware of the incident. It’s appalling that such a serious incident occurred on school premises, and yet the principal was left in the dark for over a week. When my parents visited the school and spoke to the principal, he apologized and scolded the teacher involved. That’s it. This experience has left us deeply disappointed and shaken. If this is how the school handles severe injuries within its premises, I shudder to think what might happen to another child in an emergency. The lack of empathy, responsibility, and basic crisis management is glaring. Parents entrust schools with the safety and well-being of their children. This school has shown that it is incapable of handling emergencies, let alone fostering a safe environment. I urge every parent to think twice before considering this institution for their child."
