Shree Hanuman Vyayam Shala was founded in the year 1900 during the Indian Independence Struggle by Shri. Balakrishna Potdar, a native of Sholapur born in Akkalkot, Sholapur District. His primary objective was to attain freedom from British rule and the Nizam’s rule. At the age of 20, Shri. Balakrishna Potdar relocated to Hyderabad and secured employment at Karorgir. He established a Youth Training Institution, setting up an Akhada initially at Vivek Vardhani School complex. Due to permission issues, the Akhada later moved to a rental space at Vittal Maruthi Lane, housed at Smt. Lakki Bai’s residence. Supported by local youth like Satholekar, Jamadagni, Raghunath Gadgil, among others, Potdar imparted training in disciplines such as Lathi, Talwar, and Kusti. As the institution gained popularity, its activities were relocated to Kanda Swamy Bagh until 1952, before eventually settling in the Sultan Bazar Area, where it stands today as the present Hanuman Vyayam Shala.
