"I joined The School KFI in 1986 in class 6. My sister was in class 3. We had just moved from a convent school. The School KFI was in Adyar and we lived in Mandavelli. Back then there were no school rankings or Google reviews we could check! But the minute we met Chinna Akka the Principal of the school for an interview we knew in our hearts that this was a special place! My childhood at The School was filled with very simple and precious everyday memories - the lovely assemblies, the delicious and healthy lunch and snacks at school that I still crave, the very gentle yet sincere approach to academics in classes, the science labs and the evenings spent on the games field. I fondly recollect all my teachers who instilled the love of learning in me and especially my English and Tamil teachers Jayashree Akka and Vasanthi Akka who encouraged me to read and write. This helped me later in life as I chose to be an advertising copywriter in the pre AI era. I loved my school memories so much that I wished for my daughters to have their own journeys in the same school and my wish came true. My older daughter finished school in the new campus in Thazhambur and is now a law student and dancer. My younger daughter is now in middle school and enjoying every bit of it. Personally, I find that the new campus is everything the old campus was and more. A lot has changed and it only feels like it's getting better and better. Kids stay away from gadgets on the campus and get the complete freedom to learn to think, articulate, interact and learn with the kind guidance of the Annas and Akkas. They have interesting and thought- provoking events such as Drama festivals and a non-competetive sports day. There's no doubt that they've given the dream of the Founder J.Krishnamurti wings. My sister's daughter too goes to the same school and we're happy to spend our family evenings talking about all the happenings in school - 'Who said what', 'who did what', 'who ate what', 'which subject do they love or hate', 'who's their favourite teacher', 'when is their class trip' and so on. For two generations of girls in our family The School KFI is not just a school but an emotion. We look forward to more days spent in happiness being associated with this brilliant school in Chennai."

"The School - KFI was a disaster for our family . We heard very high about the school and it's ideologies .Moreover , I had the opportunity to read Mr Krishnamurthy's " Education and it's significance of life " and understood more about their value systems . So , what I understood from the book is that he believes neither in punishment or reward system . Their motto is to identify the true, inherent talent that the child possesses and not manipulate them and force them into this rat race of life . Hence, they don't have exams in the traditional style .This very much resonates with my parenting style as I'm a pediatrician myself who believes in a child friendly school which is why I chose KFI for my daughter. Admission was breeze and we got into it. This being the background, let me tell you that our experience in LKG was nothing short of a nightmare .It's normal for a kid to cry as a toddler due to seperation anxiety from the mother. But the teachers are not empathetic in handling toddlers , highly under-staffed,hence they ended up threatening crying children . They do have corporal punishments in school . It was only my 3.8 yr old daughter's 8 th day of school in LKG ...since she was crying for her mother , she was LOCKED UP IN AN EMPTY Room as a disciplinary approach to silence her. Following that incident ,she suffered severe mental trauma.. we had to take her to a child psychiatrist to overcome the issue..How we detected that this happened in school, will be too much to pen in this particular msg. We withdrew her from school following that event . We put her in a good Montessori school after which she settled within few days . Again , having said this ,we had an array of meetings and mails with the Principal and finally got our fee refunded .So , the highest authority of the school may have good intentions but the same is not being translated to the kid inside the classroom because of unempathetic staff .They are no where close to the values preached by Mr J Krishnamurthy."

"My daughter goes to this school.. Every interaction we have with the school has always been very warm and polite. Right from the 50th annual day celebrations or the parent teachers meeting or school project day, each and everytime we have been received with warm welcome and polite responses. Everyone right from the gate will be well infromed and polite. There sports day and annual days are a treat to watch, not flashy or competitive atall. Such a transparent school, we can interact with teachers and get there help if needed to deal with the kids. Admissions were a breeze, everything is posted on the website u just have to follow it."

"A place where all of us grow … be it a student or a parent. It’s one of a kind school, which cannot be described…can only be experienced."

"This school has shifted to new place at outskirt of Chennai. Obviously old place (Theosophical Society Campus) was amazing, had its beauty and charm with abundance of greenery but change is rule and pattern of life, as nothing is static. New place is in a small campus (compared to TS) but it's again beautiful because of small babies, growing up kids, and compassionate teachers."
