‘Kindle the Light of Knowledge’, the motto set by our beloved Founder Principal Late Purnima Dasgupta to bring up an English medium school in 1968 is still burning with glory & valour after forty five years of team work by our efficient teaching staff and non-teaching staff who stood shoulder to shoulder to fight out all the problems that come in their way. We have come a long way yet we will have to travel further, yes as a horizon moves away, when we tend to reach it, the field of knowledge is as wide as the horizon. The more we move towards it, the more it widens unending and unexplored till the last day of our lives, the mystery of knowledge still remains. Team AGBHS cannot rest, we cannot part from travelling through the wide horizon of knowledge & imparting the same to the society at large. To quote Tennyson, we too believe “ Yet all experience is an arch wherethro’ Gleams that untravell’d world whose margin fades Forever and forever when I move. ” The school Anthem written & composed by our Founder Principal also advocates her principal and ideas to ‘March Forward For The Knowledge’ & to fight out against illiteracy, thereby lending out our helping hands to the country. As I walk down the hallways of the school everyday, I can hear the chatter of eager minds, the shouts of excitement from the victorious athletes, the thump of dancers’ feet and the sound of melodious voices harmonizing. The perpetual energy, movement and enthusiasm permeate the atmosphere at Alipore Girls’ & Boys High School. We are a school with a difference! We value individualism, creativity and innovation and strive to nurture them in our students.
