Bangalore is renowned for its excellent educational institutions, and one such school is Our Lady of Bon Secours Girls' High School. The campus is located on Campbell Road, Bangalore - 47, and it offers education to the underprivileged girls in the area.
The idea to start a high school on this campus was first initiated by Very Rev. Mother Alphonsa, the first Superior of Bon Secours Congregation. The foundation stone for the school was laid with the permission of Bishop Dr. Thomas Pothacamury, and the late Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Vincent D'souza provided his support.
The school was established on July 1, 1961, and the new building was inaugurated with a High Mass offered by Very Rev. Mother Mary Little Flower and other sisters. During the Independence Day celebrations, Mr. B. Maria Raj M.A. DDPI made a surprise visit and was highly impressed by the new building, calling it "An Excellent Beginning."
On September 17, 1961, the building was blessed by his Grace, the Archbishop of Bangalore, the Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Pothacamury. The stone tablet was unveiled on this day, and the Picture of Sacred Heart of Jesus was enthroned in the new building with a High Mass celebrated by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Vincent D'souza.
