Kittur Sainik School is a renowned institution founded by visionary leaders, led by the founding member Shri S.R. Kanthi, who was the then minister of education in 1967. The school was established in memory of Kittur Rani Channamma, and the foundation stone was laid by the then Prime Minister, Smt Indira Gandhi. The school was officially opened in 1969 by VKRV Rao, the Union minister for education.
KRCRSSG is the only school exclusively for girls that follows the Military and Sainik school pattern. It attracts cadets from all over India and is affiliated with CBSE, with affiliation code number 830488. The school has implemented CBSE Pattern Classes from Class VI to Class XII.
The school has a memorandum of understanding with Saginaw Valley State University, University Centre – Michigan, and Carrollton Public School, Michigan, USA. At present, around 800 girl cadets are pursuing their education and excelling in various state and national level competitions in academics, sports, NCC, Scouts and Guides, and training programs organized by the Indian Armed forces.
