Education is the process of discovering the gaps in our knowledge. This concept has gained a lot of attention lately, thanks to the media. However, the Karnataka Lingayat Education Society, Belgaum, laid the foundation of the first Anglo-Indian school over a century ago, in 1916. The objective was to impart education to the farming community in North Karnataka. The institution was established by seven teachers who are fondly remembered as the 'Saptharishis'. The founders' mission of imparting education is still pursued with the same zeal, even after 105 years. Today, the society has a strong network of over 270 educational institutions and health care services, spread not only across Karnataka but also in parts of Maharashtra, New Delhi, and even in Dubai (Bilva International School). The K.L.E Society is committed to academic excellence, and to achieve this, they have employed over 16,000 faculty members who cater to more than 1,10,262 students. The society's innovative teaching methods have led to the demand for admissions right from Kindergarten to Post Graduate studies. The K.L.E Society has collaborated with universities in the US, UK, and Malaysia, which has added a whole new dimension to the institution on an international level, making it on par with reputed educational institutions worldwide. The able Chairmanship of Dr. Prabhakar Kore, who has been serving since 1985, has further strengthened the society's mission.
