IHS was founded in 1985 by Mrs. S. Bolar, a National Award-winning educator with extensive experience in teaching. The school is affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) as well as Cambridge Assessment International Examinations (CAIE). At IHS, education does not solely focus on academic performance. It aims to develop students' social, emotional, and practical skills. The goal is to teach students how to think independently, be self-sufficient, and speak their truth. The school prioritizes providing students with problem-solving skills rather than presenting them with predetermined paths to solutions. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning and become more self-reliant. The school leads by example rather than hand-holding and aims to shape students into kind, fair, honest, and productive global citizens. The school's mission is to teach students to think independently, take care of themselves physically and emotionally, overcome any challenges life throws their way, and display courage of conviction. The school promotes values such as politeness, kindness, empathy, honesty, confidence, outspokenness, diligence, and hard work. The school views parents as partners in their children's emotional, academic, and mental growth, and encourages open communication and collaboration via multiple channels.
